Year 7 football success

Recently Horizon travelled to play Excel Academy in the North Staffs Year 7 football final.

The game started quickly with Horizon creating a number of chances within the first few minutes. Excel then started to take control of possession, but Horizon had the better chances and could have been several goals up if not for the opposition keeper, who had a fantastic game. Horizon took the lead halfway through the first half with a 20-yard strike from Scalise. Excel hit back immediately with a good finish of their own. Halftime score: 1-1.

Horizon came out stronger and began to control the game. With five minutes to go, Horizon found themselves 3-1 up with goals from Davies and Robison. However, Excel struck late, and with two minutes remaining, the game was tied at 3-3. With only 30 seconds left, Davies latched onto a through ball and, with great composure, found the far corner of the goal to win it for Horizon.

Final score: Horizon 4 – 3 Excel

Horizon deservedly crowned Year 7 North Staffs Champions and will now go on to face Blythe Bridge in the City final on the 10th of May.
