Holland visit

Holland saw our second international sports tour for our football and netball teams during this Easter holiday. It was jam-packed with activities from start to finish, including training from international sporting coaches, fixtures against international clubs and a tournament against other UK schools on tour.  Not to mention the excursions; tobogganing, laser-tag, cave bouncing, the water park and pancake tasting!

We had great success from our Year 10 football team again, who won the UK tournament in 2024 in Salou, winning one of their international fixtures & coming second in the UK tournament – but being beaten by our Year 11 team isn’t a loss for the OHAer’s!

This is the second tour and second tournament win for OHA, proving our sporting ability against some of the best sides in the country,

Our Year 9 team also won one of their fixtures, proving their upcoming talent!

It was our first time taking a girl’s football team on tour – Mr Rose has done an incredible job in the last year raising the profile of girls’ football and organising a girl’s league across the city and giving them this opportunity was an amazing achievement for all the girls at OHA!

The netballers were fantastic from start to finish, training like athletes for two full days and getting some gold star training from Ky Lewis, who plays for the England Team as GS. Watching the girls develop their netball talent over the days was a real highlight for me and Miss Smith.

Going on tour for us isn’t just about playing sport and being the best, it’s about developing our student’s character and supporting them in new and very different experiences, allowing them to flourish and achieve beyond their horizons. The relationships we build on the tours with our students are second to none, and the staff appreciate it as much as the students do. These valuable experiences give students personal development, outside of the classroom and give them, and us, life-long memories of their journey at OHA.

Our next tour is already in the pipeline for Easter of 2026 – keep an eye on our Instagram for more updates coming soon about our next destination! All students are welcomed and encouraged to start joining our teams in preparation for this.

Thank you to all the staff that made this happen; Miss Smith, Miss Sheldon, Mr Maher, Mr Meakin, Mr Millington & Mr Rose – Not all superheroes wear capes, but they do take students on tour! ~ Miss Wilkes
