At the beginning of March we celebrated World Book Day. Throughout the week commencing 2nd March Ormiston Horizon Academy had a range of activities promoting reading and highlighting the value of books.
Monday, saw a competitive Personal Tutor World Book Day Quiz with Mr Gardner’s 8D2 coming first but Aquila winning overall. Tuesday, we welcomed Paula Rawsthorne into the academy and she worked with several groups in creative writing workshops and telling the students about some of her exciting new novels. Thursday, World Book Day, was an amazing day! Staff dressed up showcasing their favourite books and characters. We had an assortment of characters from Where’s Wally to The Three Musketeers. Additionally, we had a Quotation Quest competition where students needed to find a selection of teachers’ favourite quotations which had been stuck onto their classroom doors.
The whole week was truly enjoyable and we look forward to it again next year.
