Recently a number of our students took part in a speaking competition called, Make Yourself Heard. This competition entailed students speaking for three minutes about a topic they felt particularly passionate about. There were two heat groups, KS3 and KS4; we had a variety of topics, including: mental health; lowering the voting age to sixteen; and how what you wear can define you in society. All students were highly engaging and impressive.
Both judges: Mr Fitzgibbon and Miss Jukes agreed that the competition was tense and everyone had put in a lot of effort. The winners, who will go on to the regional heats next month, were: Joshua for KS3 and Thomas for KS4. Both students’ oracy was impeccable and we look forward to seeing
them in the regional heats on Thursday, 6th February 2020.
