Meet the Principal

Rod Hughes

It is a privilege to introduce myself as the principal of Ormiston Horizon Academy.

I will work tirelessly to promote the best interests of the students, staff and the local community.

I have been extremely fortunate to lead and manage alongside exceptional school leaders, working in a variety of diverse and inspiring schools, which have shared their strategies and responsibilities for school improvement. I believe that high quality learning and teaching is at the heart of every good school and I will work with everyone at Ormiston Horizon Academy to ensure our students have the best opportunities to be successful.

I believe the relationships between teachers, students and parents/carers are the key to the success of the academy. Working together, we can ensure that students enjoy their time at the academy, make good progress and leave us as responsible, well-qualified, mature young people, ready to make a valued contribution to society.

Our £22m building programme is amazing, with probably some of the best facilities in the country, with purpose built accommodation to provide exceptional resources for our students and the local community.

However fantastic our building is, it is the people inside it, the students and the staff, that create our unique family atmosphere.

I look forward to meeting you, and working in partnership with you.
