We are passionate about supporting the career pathway into teaching at OHA. Trainees with us are provided with opportunities to gain experience both in and out of the classroom and gain the essential skills they need to move onto their first year of teaching.
We are proud to be part of The OAKS (The Ormiston and Keele SCITT partnerships offering excellent initial teacher training (ITT), based at Kelle University, Newcastle under Lyme.
The PGCSE and School Direct routes into teaching follow the same programme as each other, they have two outcome awards. QTS registration is recommended by the OAKS and the PGCE is awarded by Keele University.

We like to encourage placements from multiple providers as we feel this allows our trainees to gain a greater wealth of experiences.
Every trainee will be provided with an experienced professional mentor and an academic mentor in their own subject area. They will have a bespoke timetable created at OHA that will give them experience at both key stages, and a full CPD package to achieve the teacher standards required for QTS.
