Horizon Academy

Ormiston Horizon Academy opened in September 2011 and became the 3rd most improved school in the country in 2012. In our academy we have a relentless aspiration to make a difference to the lives of our students.

Our belief is in a safe environment where everyone achieves, opportunities are provided for progression and growth, expectations are high and success for all is celebrated. We encourage ‘can do’ culture within a ‘family’ environment.

All young people at our academy are nurtured to develop every aspect of their personality, have genuine opportunities to reach their potential and are guided to enhance their intellectual, emotional, spiritual, creative and physical talents. Students are provided with opportunities to explore fully their personal ambitions as they prepare to move forward. The academy culture supports this by providing an environment where they can grow and develop as individuals.

Our academy offers a broad, balanced and appropriate education, where emphasis is placed on academic achievement, high standards, personal progress and challenge. Students are encouraged to develop independence and to proactively take responsibility for aspects of their studies   Our passion in the academy is for high quality learning and teaching and we promise that your son or daughter will get the best possible experience both in and out of the classroom in order to ensure they are fully equipped for their adult life. We believe in traditional ‘old fashioned’ values, alongside state of the art technologies, facilities and outstanding teaching in our multi million pound building.

The name Ormiston Horizon Academy reflects the meeting of two things; surface and sky, student and teacher, aspiration and attainment. It’s about a meeting of minds, which will create a trailblazing future. Horizon is also about breaking through the limits of understanding, experience or interest, going beyond to reach or look to the future and have vision.

We welcome prospective parents and students to visit our academy and to experience first-hand our incredible facilities, but more importantly our special ‘family atmosphere’.
