About Us

The name Ormiston Horizon Academy reflects the meeting of two things; surface and sky, student and teacher, aspiration and attainment. It’s about a meeting of minds, which will create a trailblazing future. Horizon is also about breaking through the limits of understanding, experience or interest, going beyond to reach or look to the future and have vision.

We are an independent state funded school, which gives us great autonomy to manage our young people’s education. We have a duty to raise standards of achievement and attainment for all of our young people.

This is achieved by having a flexible personalised curriculum that is based on the needs, interests and abilities of our youngsters. For example some of our young people will be taking their GCSEs in Years 8 or 9 if they show the necessary qualities to achieve a high grade.

Our passion in the academy is for high quality learning and teaching and we promise that your son or daughter will get the best possible experience both in and out of the classroom in order to ensure they are fully equipped for their adult life.
